Five truths
Sometimes the best advice is the kind that’s tough to hear-but it’s also the most helpful when you’re making big financial decisions. Here are five truths I share with my clients to keep expectations realistic & strategies smart:
1. Your first home probably won’t be your forever home. And that’s okay-start with what works today, build equity, then level up later.
2.Overpricing doesn’t “leave room to negotiate.” It usually just leaves your home sitting on the market.
3. Rates aren’t dropping back to 2-3%, not in our lifetime. The new normal is likely in the 5-6% range.
4. Hanging on to a low rate in a house that no longer fits isn’t a win. It’s settling. If your lifestyle has outgrown your space, it’s time to make a move.
5. Buying and selling at the same time is stressful. There’s no perfect plan, but with the right strategy and the right agent, it’s absolutely doable.
Action Steps:
- If you’re buying: Focus on what fits your lifestyle now, not a “forever” checklist.
- If you’re selling: Price strategically to stand out in today’s market.
- If you’re unsure: Let’s talk through your goals and create a plan that works for you.
Not Quite Ready Yet? That's Okay...
Many people hesitate to reach out to an agent because they feel they’re not “ready.” But the truth is: most people buy a home every 5-7 years, while realtors do this every day!
That means it’s always the right time to ask questions, no matter where you are in your journey.
No Such Thing as a “Bad” Question
Whether it’s about the market, your home’s value, or even a contractor referral – I genuinely enjoy when people reach out. Asking early often saves you time, money, and stress later.
Clarity Comes Before Confidence
Waiting until you’re “ready” can actually cost you opportunities. A quick conversation now can give you clarity and a game plan so when the timing is right, you’re prepared.
The Truth: I Love What I Do
You don’t need to be “ready” to reach out. Helping people – whether you’re buying tomorrow, selling next year, or just curious is the best part of my job.
